The 1st South Eastern European Government Communication Conference <\/a>(SEECOM) took place in Budva, Montenegro, on 14-16 September 2012.<\/p>\n

The event brought together top government communication officials from 9 countries of South Eastern Europe and some of the leading government communication experts <\/a>from Europe and the United States, with a view to exchanging experiences and best government communication practices.<\/p>\n

Participants in the Conference adopted the Budva Declaration<\/a>, Europe\u2019s first transnational declaration of core professional and ethical principles of government communication andestablished SEECOM, as <\/i>a regional professional forum for government communications<\/i>.<\/i><\/p>\n

The 1st<\/sup> SEECOM conference was organised by the Government of Montenegro,<\/a> United Nations Development Programme in Montenegro<\/a> and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Media Programme for South East Europe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Welcome notes<\/a> were delivered by then Prime Minister of Montenegro Igor Luk\u0161i\u0107, US Ambassador to Montenegro Sue K. The 2nd<\/sup> South Eastern European Government Communication Conference<\/a> (SEECOM2013) took place in Budva, Montenegro, on 27-29 September 2013, bringing together top government communicators from 13 countries of the region.<\/p>\n

In addition to government communicators from the region, the conference participants included senior government officials, international dignitaries and prominent government communication experts from Europe and the United States.<\/p>\n

The variety of conference topics<\/a> included government communications as public service, optimising public communication resources, using modern technology to improve two-way communication and encourage citizen participation, social media, communicating EU affairs, effective presentation of policies, and regional cooperation.<\/p>\n

The conference adopted the Statute of SEECOM, establishing SEECOM a non-for-profit professional association of public sector communicators in South East Europe<\/i><\/b>, based in Budva, Montenegro.<\/p>\n

SEECOM2013 was organised by the Government of Montenegro<\/a>, in cooperation with the US Embassy in Podgorica<\/a>, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Media Programme South East Europe<\/a>,Regional Cooperation Council (RCC)<\/a> and UNDP Montenegro<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”stretch_row” css=”.vc_custom_1676332988586{background-color: #f7f7f7 !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]SEECOM reaches out to civil society partners<\/em><\/p>\n
